So...how do i feel about piercings and tattoos?
Actually, until i was about 16 years old i was against both. I never wanted my ears pierced (not for the reason you may be thinking) and i knew i wouldn't last getting a tattoo.
There was a girl in my 2nd grade class who had her ears pierced who didn't take too well of them. She actually had mold (or maybe it was stain from her earrings) on the backs of her ears and i swore i wouldn't have that happen to me.
i learned later that if i took care of my piercings that wouldn't happen to my ears. However, surprisingly my ears were not my first piercing. i actually pierced my belly button first after my first big heartbreak/break-up. i guess i wanted to prove something - so i did and went with my bestie!
Later on, not until i was 21, did i go with another bestie to get our ears pierced together. i love having my ears pierced! i love accessorizing with earrings and i'm known for having tons and tons of them that match every outfit! Love them!! i still do have my belly button pierced, but don't really show this off unless i'm in a swimsuit!
Tattoos....well let's just say i don't hate them. i wish i could get one in a secrete spot at one point in my life (but i'm sure i'll regret it later). i think that they can be very symbolic, which i like, but i know very painful!!! Can't do the pain, and don't want a wrinkly tattoo later in life. So, i'm thinking i'll steer clear of them!
And that's a wrap on this question.....
Oh, one more thing! i hear that piercings can be addicting...once you get one you can't stop. Well, i'm done with mine. Sticking with ears and belly button and i'm good to go!
Until next time...ta ta for now!
Would it be stepping on toes to ask what you think about what the Bible says about both? I mostly keep my mouth shut on this issue but I find my heart a little sore tonight and feel brave enough to battle the potential backlash of delving into the forgotten values of Seventh-day Adventists. Why have Adventist young people left their heritage of Biblical basis for values and lifestyle choices? Most jewelry today is mere trinkets but the history of jewelry the world over is slavery in every form from the Chinese in the gold mines to the African in the diamond mining we have a history riddled with the destruction of humanity. Jewelry in India is a sign of caste of differentiation of value based upon status. I cannot justify accesorising at the expense of those for whom Christ died. I am not judging you just stating my personal conviction for me. I am very curious though what has led so many Adventist youth to reject their heritage. Perhaps you can shed some light.
