A Few New Trials from Pins

For today's "Trial Run" Tuesday i decided to post 2 things that i'm currently trying out from the Pinterest world.  One being an art project i'm working on and the other is our new budget plan.

i found both of these ideas while perusing Pinterest. The first one was inspired by actually seeing something like it in someone else's home. i ended up trying to look for it on Pinterest and found a "how-to". i ended up adding my own flair to the project and will be showing you the final project next week. It has to do with my Summer Bucket List and i may even be done with it by this Wednesday! Here is the photo that inspired my art project:

And the culprit - success! i did do things a little differently than the picture but the overall tips and tricks were helpful and a great motivation for the end product! i can't wait to show you my version of this pin!

The next pin inspired hubby and i to try out a new budget plan. i actually had pinned this onto my Pinterest board awhile ago and then read the money article in his Dental Journal later. i was reminded about the "how-to" pin i once captured and decided to read up on the information for this budget plan. Here is the pin:

We've decided that this budget works for us! Basically every time i get paid we pull out money from the bank (a pre-determined amount) and divide the cash into envelopes that are labeled different things from our budget. All set payments are paid online with bill pay, and the cash is only for our flexible costs. What do don't spend rolls over to the next 2 weeks for spending. The budget planned has forced us to stay on budget and made it possible to save what we planned to save! There's also something about having cash that makes it harder to spend. If i see the cash it makes me want to save it. This is nice because it helps us to save in general anyways! 

So that's all for my Pinterest trial runs for the week. i'm looking forward to next week's post! i think i'll be trying out some recipes and other pins. The next week will be even better!! We'll be up North visiting family to watch bro-in-law's footbal game over Labor Day weekend and want to decorate in style! We'll be using a few tips from Pinterest for that!
