A Funny Kind of Day

A lot has happened today and i just want to share a few of the "funny" things that went down this morning before i get into my topic for Thankful Thursday.

My morning started out pretty normal...hitting the snooze button multiple times, grabbing a yogurt for breakfast due to no time for full breakfast, and running out the door 5 minutes after i real wanted to leave. The funny business started when i got to work this morning. As i drove into the parking lot i noticed a small dog. i didn't see where he ran off to so i ended up forgetting about him. A few minutes later, my supervisor asked me if security, on campus, deal with animals. As i stepped out of my office to answer her question i was shocked to see this little guy in the hallway.
Of course he didn't have the "leash" on yet. He had wandered in behind her into our department. A coworker of mine decided to keep him in her office until animal control arrived (which was about 4-5 hours later). She cleverly tied an Ethernet cord and made a collar/leash for the little guy.

About an hour later i heard some more commotion going on in the hallway. Turns out a student, obviously in a hurry, failed to put their parking brake on and their car rolled from here...
(empty parking space)
to here...

Luckily the damage was minimal, but still very annoying, i'm sure, to the owner of the just-about new car!
Hopefully the student will remember to put their parking brake on from now on...luckily they also forgot to lock their doors so a couple guys from my department were able to push the car back into its designated parking space and actually utilize the brake.

The rest of the morning had it's own funny-business - like little sissy calling me from an ambulance...(long story but she's A-okay). I'm just glad today is over and i get to fall into bed and sleep like a baby.

As for Thankful Thursday - i have to say that tonight i'm super thankful for people that go through things before me so that i can sort-of cheat off them in life. For example:

A bestie of mine always seems to go through tough things before me (i.e. name change) and so i get to skip the hard part of finding out all the nitty-gritty details and go to her for the "fast-track".

Another example is when a coworker of mine creates a document that can be sent to students and instead of creating one myself (which takes time and i've been the one to be the creator as well) i get to use theirs and skip the hard parts.

Well, what brings up this thankfulness was a journal i received in the mail today. It is one that comes often, "Journal of the American Student Dental Association", for my hubby and we usually toss it aside and don't care much about it. However, today was a different story. The issue was all about money and had some very helpful tips about how to back back student loans (a biggie and a must), how to budget money now while in school, and then a broad Q&A regarding all sorts of things.

VERY HELPFUL! I found the different articles putting my mind at ease a bit and also giving me great advice for now. I will definitely be putting these things to use!

And now i'm off to go hang out with hubby! Probably do a little dreaming of the future and planning some budget stuff. My picAday was taken this morning after my hot cocoa run to my bestie's office.
Until next time...ta ta for now!
