Today is "Thankful Thursday" and I can't help but talk about Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays (okay...all of them are my favorite) and I dislike the way to is so overlooked! I am guilty myself for wanting Christmas to be here already but I have to stop myself and enjoy Thanksgiving while it's here.
Even in my classroom this is happening. We have decorated for Fall and are having a Fall Harvest Party on Monday. After next week we have to begin on making our Christmas decorations and Christmas art for the month so that it all gets done. It feels like Thanksgiving gets left in the dust and it isn't even that time yet.
So, today I went to Anna's Linens after work. I was too early to go to my appointment but too late to go home. I had to kill some time and decided to browse through the store. I couldn't help but want to buy all the Thanksgiving stuff! I love decorating my home for the holidays and they had some great deals on towels, table cloths, and other holiday things. It reminded me that how important Thanksgiving really is and that we really need to stop and think about what it means. We really need to focus on why we celebrate the holiday and teach our children the great story behind it.
i probably still have too get the Christmas art going and the parent's gifts made, but I will make sure that I teach these kids about the meaning of Thanksgiving, why we celebrate it, and how important in is to be thankful!
