I want to try and do a new thing on "Thankful Thursdays" for the next couple of weeks. I want to think of things that I normally wouldn't be thankful for and write about why I am and should continue to be!
Today I am thankful for God's guidance. He guided me recently to read 1st and 2nd Peter and I just began 2nd Peter this morning. Peter is writing to the early Christians in both these books, and in 2nd Peter he is warning the early Christians to not get caught up in the labels of other Christians. Don't just follow the "leader" because of their label, but follow them because of their character. Peter writes some good qualities to have in the beginning of this book.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
There are many people in my life that have some of these qualities, and few that have all. I know that God wants me to follow those that possess all these qualities and I need to make sure that I possess these qualities as well.
