Freedom Fridays - An Easter of Hope

Friday's are fabulous all on their own. Work is only 4 hours, my massage appointments are scheduled for Fridays, and family time starts Friday as well! Everything about Friday is so fabulous!
This is the first blog I've done on a Friday and decided that it would become my "free" day...meaning that I can choose my topic. I think I may even use Friday's as a journal day or something. I'm not quite sure yet. I guess it depends on how I feel...it is a FREE day! :)

This will be our 1st Easter together as a married couple. I wanted to do something special, like start a tradition, but, unfortunately, I don't think we will be having a very happy Easter this year. Nathan's Great-Grandpa was given a week to live on Sunday and so the family is coming to visit for the weekend to say their good-bye's. In fact, we didn't even think we'd be spending Easter with either of our families but under these circumstances it looks like we will be. On a little happier note, Nathan's Great-Grandpa has lived such a wonderful life. He has a heart of gold and I feel very privileged to have met him and able to get to know him. He has an amazing story and really has a God-centered life.
His story is one that always amazes me to hear. He is a WWII veteran and received the Silver Star for his service as a medic in the Battle of the Bulge. He was almost killed after being buried by some sort of rubble and made a promise to God that if He saved his life he would dedicate his entire life to building churches for Jesus. Well, he survived and has been building churches and doing God's work since that day he made the commitment. He is a wonderful man and really lived a life that I can only try to follow.
Your prayers are envied as that family mourns the upcoming loss of this wonderful Christian friend, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. What a perfect weekend to mourn, but hope for the final resurrection that Jesus modeled so long ago on that first Easter. Thank you Jesus for giving us hope in you and your awesome power!
